Since 1872, the iconic Gran Hotel Havana building has stood majestically on Barcelona’s Gran Via, located in the exclusive Eixample district. Surrounded by some of the city’s most luxurious shops and establishments, our hotel perfectly combines history, elegance, and modernity.
Expanded and renovated as a luxury hotel in 1991, the Gran Hotel Havana has continuously evolved to offer an unparalleled 4-star hotel experience in Barcelona.
Starting Point
The Gran Hotel Havana in Barcelona needed an upgrade to the climate control system in its rooms, as the current operation did not meet their expectations for comfort and efficiency, and they wanted to improve it.
The hotel was looking for a system that would maintain the same philosophy as their existing setup, while also providing fully automated, reliable, and intuitive operation, easy for users to understand and manage.
Additionally, the existing fans were 3-speed, and the new system needed to be flexible to allow, in the future, replacement with EC fans to reduce energy consumption.
Study and Implementation
After evaluating several options, the Proxima CU-LH-MOD range controller perfectly met the technical and operational needs of the hotel.
To complement it, the TRI room unit was selected, valued for its modern design and the advanced functionality it offers users.
To ensure proper adaptation of the existing fan-coil speed control, the FCRY3 was incorporated—a module of 3 interlocked relays that allows a 0–10 V control output to be converted into a 3-speed fan control.
The project, which included the installation design, material procurement, and proper installation, was successfully completed within a two-month period, ensuring an efficient, flexible system ready for future improvements in energy efficiency and guest comfort.
